So far, since 2012, C&A has always won the top spot in the annual ranking of the ten major organic cotton producers.

In addition to cotton, according to the 2016 textile and materials market report of the textile exchange of America, C&A also ranked fifth and tenth in the purchase ranking of down and Lesel fibers (a fiber produced by pulp).

These materials are the most important objects of C&A in the sustainable material development strategy, next only to cotton.

This year, the textile exchange of the United States ranked 89 companies, and the number of participating companies was higher than that of 56 last year.

Jeffrey Hogue, chief operating officer of C&A global sustainable development, said: "we have taken the lead in the field of organic cotton, and have also made achievements in the field of down and Lesel fiber, thanks to the joint efforts of C&A designers, buyers and purchasers in C&A."

The current results are inspiring, indicating that we have made significant progress in promoting the procurement of sustainable raw materials and improving environmental and social impacts.

We will continue to work towards achieving the 2020 target to ensure that 100% of cotton and 67% of sustainable raw materials come from certified sustainable sources. "

C&A's progress in 2020

As early as more than 10 years ago, C&A began to use organic cotton in its products, and gradually increased its use of organic fibers and other sustainable materials.

Cotton products account for 60% of the C&A global product range. Therefore, organic production is very important: C&A has cut down up to 90% of water consumption by reducing the use of toxic and harmful pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, reducing the negative climate impact of 46%, thereby reducing the impact of cotton planting.

Last year, C&A reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by more than 115000 tonnes by buying organic cotton.

In 2015, C&A sold over 138 million products of certified organic cotton in the world, far exceeding other fashion retailers.

In all C&A products, the use of sustainable cotton, including organic cotton and cotton planted in response to the "high quality cotton initiative", has now increased to 40% of the total cotton amount.

In 2016, C&A will base on its rich experience and adopt more sustainable cotton and other sustainable materials in its current product line.

Starting from the autumn of 2016, all down products of C&A will be made using the down feather standard (RDS) certified eiderdown.

On the basis of solid progress, C&A will continue to play the brand's scale and market advantages, work closely with other brands, retailers, C&A foundation and non-governmental organizations to further promote the wide range of sustainable materials production.
